On Monday afternoon prime minister Xavier Bettel and minister of the economy Étienne Schneider both tweeted: “We are extremely proud by the announcement by Google relating to Luxembourg. We are looking ahead to the next stage. Our work is not done, it is just a start.”
The 33.7 hectare site in question is located at the Bousbierg, behind the industrial zone “Klengbousbierg” in Bissen. Purchase of the land was held up after a co-owner of one of the 15 properties that make up the site failed to sign an agreement to sell.
It has been suggested that the date centre will represent an investment of over €1bn.
